Leather is a durable and beautiful material, but it still needs proper care to keep its appearance and structure over time. In this article, we’ve collected the main care recommendations for our leather products.
These care instructions apply to all our leather types, including Crazy Horse leather and Italian full-grain leather. Please note that each material has its own natural characteristics, but all leather items should be cleaned gently and protected from excessive moisture, heat and harsh chemicals.
- General Cleaning
If the leather becomes soiled, gently wipe the entire surface with a soft, damp cloth using lukewarm water and a mild, neutral soap without added chemicals.
Please do not clean only one small spot. We recommend wiping the full surface evenly to avoid visible marks or uneven changes in color.
After cleaning, do not leave excess moisture on the leather. Wipe it dry immediately with a clean soft cloth or sponge.
- What to Avoid
Please avoid harsh cleaning products, strong chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners, and abrasive sponges.
Alcohol-based cleaners are especially not recommended for items with foil debossing, as alcohol can damage both the leather surface and the foil finish.
We also recommend avoiding cleaning solutions that contain phenoxyethanol. This ingredient is often found in restaurant cleaning products and may cause foil deterioration over time.
- Drying
Never use a hairdryer, heater, or any other heat source to dry leather.
After cleaning, allow the item to air dry naturally at room temperature. Keep leather products away from direct sunlight while drying, as strong sunlight or heat may affect the color and surface structure.
- Conditioning
Over time, leather may benefit from moisturizing with a leather dressing or cream to help maintain its softness and flexibility.
We recommend testing any leather conditioner on a small, inconspicuous area first before applying it to the full product.
For conditioning, we recommend Fiebing’s Aussie Leather Conditioner or a similar high-quality leather care product suitable for finished leather.
Crazy Horse Leather Care
Crazy Horse leather is made by applying special waxes to the leather surface. This gives the material its retro, vintage look and unique color depth.
One of the main characteristics of Crazy Horse leather is that the color may change when the surface is rubbed, bent or scratched. This is a natural feature of the material, not a defect. Small marks, shade variations and scratches help the leather develop its own patina over time.
If a small scratch appears, it can often be reduced by gently rubbing the area with a soft cloth. The waxes on the surface help the mark blend back into the leather.
Italian Full-Grain Leather Care
Our thick Italian leather is full-grain cowhide. It is water-resistant, but not fully waterproof.
This means it can handle light exposure to moisture, such as small spills or occasional splashes, without immediate damage. The surface treatment helps prevent liquids from absorbing right away, giving you time to wipe them off.
However, prolonged exposure to water or heavy saturation is not recommended. If water stays on the surface for too long, it may eventually penetrate the material and affect the look or structure of the leather.
In a restaurant, café, bar or hotel setting, this leather performs very well under normal daily use as long as spills are wiped off promptly.
